Our main aim at SWKA is focused on helping to promote safe Kayaking on our waters and with the success of SWKA Oxwich 2011 a cheque presentation is taking place on Sunday 9th October at 9:45 at the Horton RNLI Station. Following the presentation The RNLI have arranged for the Mumbles rib to attend where some of the SWKA members will be assisting the crews with some kayak rescues from the sea.

It is a chance for anyone anxious about capsizing at sea to get on the water and take part in the activities knowing that there is rescue at hand. It helps us as Kayakers and the RNLI as rescuers to know what situations can arise in the event of a rescue situation. If anyone would like to turn up and meet some of the Lads and ask some questions you will be more than welcome or if you are new to the sport and would like to take part then just let us know.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all that helped and took part in the event to raise this money and hope for a good turnout and hope for fair weather on Sunday.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Well with Oxwich around the corner Entries are coming in daily and as word gets around about this magnificent event people are thinking they have missed the boat with their entries, but never fear we have extended the postal entry for another 2 weeks and will close on the 16th July but for those who miss that date we will be taking entries on the day.

Campsite News

For those finding it difficult to book in to the campsite, I have it on good authority. Just book in at reception on arrival there is plenty of room.

SWKA VHF Course

In 2010 SWKA were awarded a Grant by the Sports Council Wales which was to go towards training and safety courses. Following some hard work by Ed in organising the course it finally took place on Saturday 5th March at Mumbles inshore RNLI Station. The course was presented by the coxswain of the station. This course was fully funded from the Grant which is one of the benefits available to Members of South Wales Kayak Anglers. Members who took part in the course are from (L to R) Darren(Cobra),Leon,Mick Dundee,Adie(Fishhunter),Ed(Floydyboy), Rich(Legend), Deano,Steve(Valleybuoy)Ryland,Tommy and Steveo. Club Meeting 29th March

SWKA next Club meeting has been arranged for the 29th March 2011 19:30 @ LBC. Attending the meeting will be Sid the Mumbles RNLI Safety Officer who will be giving a talk and demonstration on Flares and how to use them safely also PFD's. Anyone wishing to come along will be welcome.

CHRISTMAS DINNER

A christmas dinner evening has been arranged by Bob and the Venue is The Buck in Pontlliw on the 11th December. Will all interested please contact Bob as Deposits need to be taken before a firm booking can be made.

Seating capacity is limited in the main room so priority will be given to First booked and SWKA Members
