SWKA’s main priority is to promote safe kayak fishing across the UK. We do this by arrange courses, such as VHF Radio training and Paddle courses, and by offering help and assistance in anyway we can to help new kayak anglers in this fast growing sport.

Through our Website, our Forum, our social media pages and our regular club meets we provide an abundance of information for anything kayak fishing related. If you can’t find the information you need our members are a wealth of knowledge on anything kayak fishing related, just ask them.

SWKA is celebrating something special this year, our 10 year anniversary! Over the last decade the club has gone from strength to strength, increasing our membership and promoting kayak fishing across the UK. This has included the growth of our two flagship European Championship Competitions – Oxwich Bay and the Llangorse Predator Hunt, these two events have become the flagship events in the UK’s kayak fishing calendar. This year we are holding our 10th annual Oxwich Bay Kayak Fishing Event, with the excitment already building as well as the amazing support of our sponsors this year promises to be an amazing event!

SWKA is not for profit, and alongside the general activities of the club we also raise funds for some very worthy causes. Over the last 10 years we have raised more than £23,000 for our three main causes; the RNLI (Supporting the Horton and Port Eynon crews), Heroes on the Water (HOW) and the Welsh Air Ambulance.

We welcome new members to the club and meet at Loughour Boating club on the last Tuesday of every month. So why not pop along to see us or join us on one of the organised fishing meets that occur most weekends, weather permitting!

Andrew Evans – Aka Macman

Since I can remember I’ve always fished. Being brought up in the Scotland that meant one thing, fly fishing. Nearly every weekend I was on a boat somewhere fishing for trout with my brother. The only exception was during the summer holidays, spent mainly in either Devon or Cornwall. You would more often than not find me sat on the harbour wall of Mevagissey, Brixham, Falmouth, Port Isaac basically anywhere I could get a rod in the water. Ever since then I’ve fished from the shore or boat fishing whenever I could. Whilst fishing from the shore and catching nothing I watched a guy just a little bit further out in a kayak pulling fishing in constantly. That was it, I had to have a kayak. A kayak gives so much freedom, allowing you to fish waters a shore or boat fisherman can’t reach. SWKA was a natural progression, the club is an amazing wealth of knowledge and the members go out of their way to help. I’m an out and out lure fisherman and spend most of my time either buying lures or paddling the waters around the Pembrokeshire coast, mainly for bass and Pollack.

I have been fishing since a young kid both recreational and commercial I am also a trustee and one of the founders of Heroes on the water UK a charity set up to help our injured vets rehabilitate through the means of kayak fishing. I took up Kayak fishing in 2008 which was the best thing I had done and realised there was no club so early 2009 SWKA was born and its grown ever since. I love to travel to as many places as I can to fish to get a bit of variety of different species and meet old and new friends but love nothing more than watch the club members get involved in the courses and fishing meets we put on.

Michael Roberts – Aka Minty

I love all sorts of country and water sports, been a bit of a fishing fanatic in my life, was once a keen fisherman and bailiff on the river Tywi in Carmarthen and spent many a year being a true game fishing enthusiast, however the ocean always had a big place in my heart having fished for many clubs and associations, and when I came across the SWKA club and forum and the friendly companionship that came with, I took my fishing hobby to the next level also excelling my abilities and experience along with it with the knowledge of the members and courses we have been put through. I have tried many sports in my life and finally found the one that fulfils my needs and also love to share what I have learnt with up and coming members.
